Styrene butadiene rubber was developed in the first half of the last century. Its use expanded during World War II when natural rubber became unavailable. SBR has since become the most commonly used synthetic rubber. Preferred Compounding has significant experience in styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) compounding.

SBR rubber properties

SBR has good abrasion and good aging resistance when protected by additives. Its heat, oil and abrasion resistance is better than natural rubber.

While SBR is widely used in vehicle tires, applications for Preferred’s customers vary widely including conveyor belts, industrial hoses, various molded and extruded rubber goods, footwear, adhesives, floor tiles, gaskets and sheet rubber goods.
